Allagash Interlude: 10th Anniversary Ale, 2015 (Portland, ME)
Style: Farmhouse Ale, Saison ABV: 10% Two yeast strains were used to create this unique Belgian-style ale. The first, a Saison yeast, establishes the flavor foundations of a classic Belgian-style ale. The second, Allagash's proprietary strain of Brettanomyces yeast, contributes myriad flavors including pear, apricot, graham cracker, and bread crust. A portion of Interlude is aged in red wine barrels, which imparts a distinctive vinous, plum character and a dry, almost tannic, finish.

Style: Fruited Sour ABV: 6% Robustly tart and fruit-filled flavor. Stunning ruby color thanks to the fresh, local raspberries and cranberries it was aged on. Blending a tart ale from oak foudres with fresh raspberries and cranberries.

Allagash Tiarna, 2014 (Portland, ME)
Style: American Wild Ale ABV: 7.1% A blend of two beers, one aged in oak and fermented with 100% brettanomyces, and the other fermented in stainless with a blend of two belgian yeast strains. The finished beer is dark golden in color with aromas of citrus, pineapple and bread. Notes of grapefruit, lemon, and bread crust punctuate the flavor with a long, dry finish.

Brasserie Dupont Special Belge, 2012 (Philadelphia, PA/Tourpes, Belgium)
Style: Belgian Ale ABV: 5.75% Philly Beer Week '12 exclusive, perhaps the last bottles in existence; stateside. Collab between DuPont, Chris LaPierre from Iron Hill and Tom Peters from Monks Cafe. Pretty good lineup. Pretty good! Medium amber color with an orange-hued head. Light pepper and floral notes on the nose with a hint of bread and Dupon't signature funk. Drinks dry and complex

De Proef Brouwerij: Abtsolution, 2016 (Lochristi-Hijfte, Belgium)
Style: Belgian Strong Ale ABV: 9% This is a collaboration between De Proefbrouwerij and Daniel Carey of the Wisconsin-based New Glarus Brewing. Santiam and Chinook hops, which add pine and spice notes, and lactose derived from Wisconsin cows to impart extra mouthfeel and sweetness. The beer is aged in both French and American oak, which lends a complexity and velvety smooth palate.

Evolution Craft: Nouveau Rouge, 2015 (Salisbury, MD)
Style: Flanders Red Ale ABV: 6.3% An ongoing project that pays tribute to the sour ales of Flanders. Using the solera method of blending and aging, this ale is complex, tart and earthy with notes of vanilla and tannin from the oak aging process. With each year the solera will develop more unique character evident in each subsequent release.

Founders: Bolt Cutter 15th Anniversary Ale, 2012 (Grand Rapids, MI)
Style: Barley Wine ABV: 15% Dry-hopped with a mountain of Cascade hops, it's balanced by a malty sweetness and spicy complexity, resulting from barrel aging some of it in bourbon barrels, some in maple syrup-bourbon barrels and some not at all (standard fermentation only)

Style: Barrel-aged Imperial Stout ABV: 12.7% Full of the dark, spicy, and pleasantly sweet flavors of mulberries, marionberries, and boysenberries. This trio of fruit nicely rounds out the spice and heat of the rye whiskey barrels in which they were aged, resulting in a smooth, jammy stout perfect for sipping on your back porch
